Bits & Bobs of French Open Day 3

Baby Fed, aka 21-yr old Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, ousted the great American dissapointment Donald Young on Day 3 of the French 7-6 (3), 6-1, 6-1.

Grigor has always been a personal favorite of mine ;)

Major news is that Serena Williams is out, losing to Virginie Razzano of France 6-4, 6-7 (5), 3-6. I didn’t see this match, but I keep hearing that Serena went on a mental walk-about for a half hour after losing the tie-break, which was just enough time for Razzano to build an indominable 5-1 lead in the 3rd.

Serena came in as a heavy favorite on the women’s side, but as history has shown, the WTA is unstable as 5 ft. tall jenga tower. Maria Sharapova must be over the moon, but she just might lose to some random chick in the quarters herself.

Love her dress, hate her.

A great match I watched of Day 3 was Jeremy Chardy of France vs. Rendy Lu of Taipei. Chardy grinded out the win 6-4, 6-1, 6-7 (3), 3-6, 11-9.

That 5th set had me biting the collar of my shirt, true story bro. Chardy had multiple match points at 9-8, but Lu held them off with some spectacular clutch serving. Eventually, Lu’s serving faltered, and couldn’t climb back out of a third 0-40 whole.
